This text discusses the effects of chronic stress on hypothyroidism and mental health, as well as the mechanisms of antidepressants like coffee, tobacco, and alcohol. The study evaluated the effects of reboxetine, sertraline, and venlafaxine on thyroid hormones in patients with major depressive disorder. All three antidepressants alleviated depressive symptoms, but they had different effects on thyroid hormone levels. Reboxetine lowered TSH and increased T4, while sertraline had the opposite effect. There was also a gender difference in basal T4 levels, with women having lower values than men.
